Deny, Deny, Deny, That's what I have been doing for the last 25 years about my size. I'm just big boned or I like being big is what I would say. I was lying to everyone, mostly me. In reality I would look in the mirror at the end of the day and really not like what I see, but I was full of excuses. I actually had myself believing that I liked being large. And then in 2007 I had a doctor give me a diagnosis that would literally change my life, I was diagnosed with Leukemia. I made a promise to myself and my family that if I could make it through this I would change my life completely, well 18 months later, more doctors and hospital visits then I can count and medicines I couldn't even pronounce, I got that wonderful word called remission thrown into my medical chart and knew it was now time to stick to my promise. That is where Dr. Felts and his great staff come in, I had been looking at weight loss adds for a long time and ran across a free seminar at his clinic, so I thought I would go hear what they have to say. Dr. Felts says he can give you the tools to help you lose weight, but it’s up to you to make them work. I walked away from the seminar so pumped up that nothing was going to hold me back. I know this is hard to believe, but Dr. Felts and his surgical staff made surgery a fun experience (insane right?) and actually an enjoyable experience. I felt like they actual cared about me and my future, and since my surgery the medical staff has made me feel like part of their family. My life has changed so much since my surgery that I don't even feel like I know who the old me was. I love the new body and I know my beautiful wife does too. I have been playing baseball with 4 kids and actually running around, I have been going down water slides that I couldn't fit on before. I am walking to places instead of driving. And I can’t forget the clothes, there is so many nice clothes that I could only look at on other people, but now I am wearing them. I wish I wouldn't have waited until something bad had to happen to make this change, but I did. This is a major change in life and I'm loving it.

My name is Angela Gutierrez I am a 36 yr old mother of three awesome sons. Well, where do I begin, I had my surgery in December 2008. I weight 284lbs before I started the whole process of the LapBand. I was at the border line of diabetes, high blood pressure, and had sleep apnea. My legs hurt to where I couldn’t even cook sometimes because of the pain in my feet. I now weight 151lbs, and I feel MARVELOUS and look GREAT too. I am glad I went through with the LapBand surgery, it has TOTALLY changed my health and my whole life.

Before my surgery I was depressed and sometimes ashamed to go places with my friends, but now after losing 120 lbs I feel the best I've ever felt. I always struggled with my weight from childhood, and after losing my mother in 2007, I began to spiral down further, using food as a comfort. It got to the point where I didn't want to go anywhere or do anything, people would always try to get me to go out to parties or gatherings, but I would just stay in the house for the most part and entertain friends and family at home. In 2009 I went to the emergency room with an ear infection and was informed by the nurse who had assisted me on a previous visit that from my prior to that visit I had gone from 360lbs to 416lbs in only three months! I decided at that point I had to do something to change my life. I looked at a plethora of videos on lap band, to the point of driving my friends crazy, but they stuck by me and two of my closest friends attended my first consultation. I was afraid, but my partner and my friends kept me focused and I went through with it,and it was the best decision of my life! With the help of Dr. Felts and his wonderful staff along with diet and exercise I finally feel my age and can do all the things I wanted to do, but was restricted by weight.
